Host note
This neighborhood has a village-like charm right in the city. For a drink or dinner in a beautiful green courtyard, head to Amerlingbeisl. TIAN Bistro is also located here and serves incredible vegetarian dishes. If visiting in winter, their artisan Christmas market is our favorite in Vienna.
Why go
A historic district with beautifully restored Biedermeier-style pedestrian lanes, cobblestone alleys, and a vibrant local arts and dining scene. It is the perfect place to stroll, away from the traffic and main tourist crowds.
Good to know
- Getting there: A short 10-minute walk from our Innere Stadt apartments, or take U-Bahn U2 or U3 to Volkstheater and walk 5 minutes up Spittelberggasse.
- Tickets & entry: Completely free pedestrian zone. Shops are generally open Monday to Saturday; restaurants and bars are open daily.
