The amusement park (Wurstelprater) is free to enter, so you only pay for the rides you want. The Giant Ferris Wheel (Riesenrad) is historic and offers great views, but the lines can be long in summer. Book your Ferris Wheel ticket online in advance to skip the main queue.

Why go

A vast public park containing the famous 'Wurstelprater' amusement park. Its main landmark is the Giant Ferris Wheel, erected in 1897, which has become one of Vienna's most iconic symbols. The green Prater beyond it is huge and perfect for cycling or running.

Good to know

  • Getting there: Take the U-Bahn U1 or U2 directly to Praterstern station. The park entrance is just a 2-minute walk from the station exit.
  • Tickets & entry: Free entry to the park ground. Individual rides cost €3–7. The Giant Ferris Wheel is €14.50 for adults, €6.50 for children under 14 (family passes are available).
